Christmas in the Park planning underway
Plans are underway for a citywide celebration in the park for this Christmas season. City officials and several volunteers are making plans to “Light Up The Park.”
Details are still being worked out but they are planning to map out the park into many different areas. Local organizations, businesses, school groups, and churches are encouraged to be thinking about how to decorate your area in the park. Cash prizes will be given to the best decorated areas.
If you have any Christmas lights or other Christmas decorations you would be willing to donate to this effort please take them by city hall. Some organizations, such as the scouts, might need some help in obtaining decorations for their booth area.
They are also planning a citywide Christmas in the Park, which will coincide with Santa in the Park, where your organization will be encouraged to set up booths to sell hot chocolate, baked goods, chili, last minute Christmas gifts, etc.
More details will be available in the Friona Star in the weeks to come. The committee is very excited about bringing more cheer to our community during such a wonderful time of the year.
