Juanita Wright
Juanita Wright, 97, passed away February 24, 2016, in Friona, Tx. She was born November 19, 1918, in Crow Mountain, Arkansas to Berch and Ora Walters Scott.
She moved to Lubbock County Texas in 1926 at the age of eight. Juanita graduated from Shallowater High School in 1936. She married Crandel Wright in 1936 and they farmed in Shallowater until moving to Friona, Tx in 1954.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 1962, her parents, one son Gene Wright, a great granddaughter Brooke Hankins, a sister, a brother, and a brother at infancy.
Survivors include a son, Gordon Wright of Charlotte, NC; a daughter Janice Loafman of Plainview, Tx; a daughter-in-law Pat Wright Blackburn of Friona, Tx; eight grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild.
Visitation and services were held Saturday February 27 in Resthaven Funeral Home with burial in Resthaven Memorial Park.

Pat Fleming
Patricia Ann "Pat" Bernethy Fleming, 77, passed away February 24, 2016, in Friona, Texas. Funeral services were held Saturday February 27, 2016, at 2:00 p.m. at the Friona United Methodist Church with Rev. Skip Hodges, pastor, officiating. Burial followed in Friona Cemetery by Blackwell-Mullins Funeral Home of Friona.
Pat was born March 6, 1938 in Burkburnett, Texas to Oris Delano and Ann Marie Hoffman Bernethy. She married Howard Fleming on September 8, 1956, in Wichita Falls, Texas.
She had many accomplishments in life. She served two four-year terms on the Friona School Board. In 1986 she was the Friona Chamber of Commerce Woman of the Year. She served as president of the American Heart Association for Parmer County in 1986-1987 and was the recipient of the American Heart Association Bless Your Heart Award.
She served on the board of directors of the Parmer County Appraisal District in 1990-1991 and volunteered to help with elections for many years. She was CPR certified and taught CPR and was Emergency Medical Technician certified. She was recognized by the Friona Methodist Church for Special Mission Recognition with a pin in 1996.
She is preceded in death by her parents, one brother Jack Bernethy, and one granddaughter Danielle Fleming.
She is survived by her husband Howard Fleming of Friona, four sons; Charles Fleming of Clovis, David Fleming and wife Dawn of Lubbock, Andrew Fleming and wife Judy of Lubbock, and Bruce Fleming and wife Shana of Friona; one sister, Jill Gee of Graham, Texas, eleven grandchildren, Dallas, Dusty, Chase, Justin, Cotton, Mason, Paige, Courtney, Jenae, Savanna, and Aspen Fleming.

Rosa Maria Chavez
Rosa Maria Chavez, 55, of Bovina, TX, died Friday, February 26, 2016 in Amarillo, TX. Funeral services were held on Wednesday, March 2, 2016 at First Baptist Church of Friona with Reverend Brett Hoyle, pastor, officiating. Interment followed in Bovina Cemetery in Bovina, TX. under the direction of Blackwell-Mullins Funeral Home of Friona, TX.
Rosa Maria was born on October 7, 1960 in Los Fresnos, Texas to David and Romana (Arambula) Bautista. She married Ruben Chavez on October 29, 1983 in Armelia Colima, Mexico. Rosa was a homemaker and a member of St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Bovina, Texas. She enjoyed knitting, bird watching, playing games on her tablet, cookouts, and loved spending time with her family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, David and Romana Bautista and a sister, Delmira Bautisita.
Survivors include her husband, Ruben Chavez of Bovina; two sons, Ruben Chavez, Jr. of Bovina, TX, Juan Chavez and wife, Monica, of Hereford, TX; two daughters, Estella Uvalli and husband, Marcos, of Clovis, NM and Maria Chavez and husband, Bobby Grubbs, of Stillwater, OK; five brothers, David Bautista and wife, Norma, of Friona, TX, Elisandro Bautista of Canyon, TX, Victor Bautista of Friona, TX, Michael Bautista and wife, Dahlia, of Friona, TX, Gilbert Bautista of Friona, TX; five sisters, Esmeralda Bautista of Friona, TX, Janie Cortez of Amarillo, TX, Jeanie Bautista of Chicago, Illinois, Diana Bautista of Chicago, Illinois, Anita Bautista of Friona, TX; 11 grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.
