Council to hear street closure and annexation procedures
The Friona city council will meet in regular session Monday February 8 at 6:30 p.m. in council chambers at 619 Main St. All council meetings are open to the public.
The tentative agenda includes three items designated as public hearings and a total of 23 items. Items 4-6 are public hearings allowing comments from the public. Danny Kendrick is petitioning for street closure/abandonment on a portion of Virginia Street. Kendrick is also requesting rezoning to change from residential zoning to local retail/central business zoning in the 1000 block of Maple St. in the vicinity of the Fast Stop Truck Wash.
The third public hearing item is a petition from the Friona Federal Credit Union to annex a 1.08 acre tract and a 1.12 acre tract into the city for the new credit union building at 801 Austin St.
Items 8-10 on the regular agenda are to consider and take action on the Kendrick zoning application changes as listed above.
Next are items calling for the city officers' election and notice of election May 7, 2016, and authorizing the mayor to sign a joint election agreement with the Friona Independent School District.
The Friona Police Department will present their departmental report for January 2016 and the state required racial profiling report.
The council will consider and take action on approval of the audit report presented by Randall Field, P.C. for fiscal year October 1, 2014 to September 30, 2015.
Consideration and action will be taken on January accounts payable and the January financial statement. Bids will be awarded for the 2016 sealcoat project. Consider and take action on an ordinance of voluntary annexation of the new credit union building at 801 Austin St.
The council will then go into closed executive session for legal advice regarding annexation procedures for small areas within the city limits that are not part of the city.
Upon reconvening to regular session the council will consider and take action on information provided in closed session to approve an annexation procedure for small areas within the city limits that are not part of the city.
The final agenda item is to discuss and consider change of operation and transfer agreement and other related documents needed to transfer Prairie Acres and Heritage Estates ownership from the City of Friona to Parmer County Hospital District.
