First little winter blast arrived Saturday night. Official weather guy John Gurley said our low temp was minus-8 and we received one-inch of snow, for .10” moisture. It’s okay to dream of a white Christmas but let’s hope we don’t get the Goliath we got the day after Christmas last year.

Enjoyed visiting with Wendy Case, the new County Agent-Family Consumer Sciences, at a meet and greet reception last Thursday in Bovina. She is a very energetic outgoing young lady, married to a Methodist preacher in Clovis. I feel sure she will be an asset to our county and the 4-H kids. Mrs. Case handed out the 2016 4-H Star awards. Ashlyn Timms of Lazbuddie earned the Gold Star award. Adeline White was Silver Star and Jarret White was Bronze Star.

There is a new year ahead with new challenges. We lost some good citizens this year. Others are enduring health issues. We send Christmas wishes for peace and healing. We wish everyone a nice quiet Merry Christmas and a prosperous Happy New Year. Thank you for your support in 2016 to our readers and our advertisers. We are taking next week off so the next Friona Star will be Thursday January 5, 2017. Until then!
