From Coach Bryan Masse
Tuesday, October 3 the Squaws volleyball team started district play with the Dimmitt Bobbies.
The C team started the night off right with a sweep of the Bobbies to the tune of a 25-18, 25-18 victory. The JV had a harder time adapting to Dimmitt’s style of play in the first game as the Bobbies made fewer mistakes and brought the ball back over the net on one or two touches. Dimmitt won the first game 25-22 but the Squaws played better in game two to come out on top 25-12. Game three was closer but the Squaws were never in danger as they won 25-18. The passes did a better job in games two and three getting the ball to Emma Rector where she could use the middle duo of Desiree Aragon and Carly Drake who came up with some key kills. That allowed the outside hitters, Amelia Sandoval and Megan Stone more one-on-one opportunities to score.
In the Varsity match the Squaws were steady with most aspects of the game and never were in serious trouble as they won the three games 25-16, 25-18 and 25-19.
“I think Dimmitt has improved from early in the season and could upset someone before the district season is over.”
The Squaws travel to Post on Saturday, October 8 for a non-district contest before returning home for a Tuesday, October 11 match with Shallowater.
