Fired Up — Americans who fired up the grill this past Memorial Day paid noticeably more for the backyard staples, with ground beef prices up 14.5% and steak up 16.1% year over year, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics’ April inflation report. The beef squeeze traces to a U.S. cattle herd at its lowest level in 75 years, as ranchers cut inventory amid drought, high feed costs, and rising overhead. Hot dogs aren’t a free pass either, with frankfurter prices up 10.7% from last year, and even cakes and cookies climbing 5.1%. The one bright spot for the budget-conscious hosts: chicken is the only protein category that got cheaper, down 0.7% over the last year, while potatoes are about 3% less expensive. The Flyover

New Report Card — A newly launched Texas Education Agency (TEA) misconduct dashboard shows thousands of educators flagged for misconduct and criminal history. The TEA’s Educator Misconduct Reporting Dashboard, required by Senate Bill 571, logged more than 13,000 misconduct reports in fiscal 2026, as compared to more than 6,000 from 2025. Sexual misconduct investigations rose nearly 50%, reaching 441 cases compared to 303 the prior year. Inappropriate educator relationship investigations are up more than 150% over the prior year. The dashboard provides an interactive public view of the investigation and sanction process. The Texas Flyover

Not So Fast — Ferrari shares tumbled more than 5% Tuesday after the Italian sports car maker unveiled the Luce, its first all-electric vehicle and a sharp departure from its signature design language. The five-seater, designed by former Apple designer Jony Ive, hits 60 mph in 2.5 seconds and features an external speaker system that amplifies the hum of the electric engine to give it more of a Ferrari-style roar. Critics on social media called the design a “monstrosity” and compared it to a Nissan Leaf, which starts at around $30,000. Rivals Lamborghini and Porsche have scaled back EV plans due to weak demand for high-end electric cars. The Flyover

Tall, Taller, Tallest — A new timeline of skyscrapers tracks the world’s tallest building across more than a century, revealing America’s longtime dominance before a striking geographic shift toward Asia. New York held the crown essentially continuously from 1909 to 1973, running up a string of record-holders, from the Met Life Tower to the Empire State Building to the World Trade Center North Tower. Then the title moved in 1974 to the former Sears Tower in Chicago. Since 1998, the world’s tallest building has been located in Asia. Malaysia’s Petronas Towers kicked things off, followed by Taiwan’s Taipei 101, and now Dubai’s Burj Khalifa. The world’s tallest building has grown from a height of 700 feet in 1909 to 2,717 feet today—nearly four times taller in just over a century. The Flyover
