Miguel Mejia, 64 of Lubbock passed away Saturday, October 17, 2026 in Lubbock. Viewing will be held Friday, October 23, 2026 from 12:00 PM to 8:00 PM with Rosary Services at 6:00 PM at St. Teresa’s Catholic Church in Friona. Mass of Christian Burial Services have been scheduled for 10:00 AM Saturday, October 24, 2026 at St. Teresa’s Catholic Church in Friona with Father Nick Gerber as Celebrant. Arrangements and Cremation entrusted to HANSARD FAMILY Funeral Home of Friona.
Mickey was born October 22, 1961 in Donna, Texas to Benito Mejia Sr. and Dora Almanza Mejia. He later graduated from Friona High School in 1980. He was a true Tejano Texan. A very simple man who loved spending time with his family, listening to Tejano music, fishing with the grandchildren and watching the Dallas Cowboys. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather.
Mickey is preceded in death by his parents-Benito and Dora, brothers-Jose Vargas, Osfaldo Mejia, and Marcos Mejia.
Those to mourn his passing include his wife- Sandra Mejia of Lubbock, children- Esperanza McBeth of Fritch, Martin Earl Mejia and Juan Diego Mejia, both of Amarillo, James Mejia of Omaha, Nebraska, and Gisselle Mejia of Lubbock, siblings- Benito Mejia Jr. of Friona, Antonio Mejia of Los Angeles, CA., San Juana Mejia of Guymon, OK., Jose Mejia, Maria Dunlavy, and Martin Mejia, all of Friona, grandchildren- Mariposa Cardona, Delilah Garcia, Vincente Cardona III, Tristan McBeth, Max Trostle, Fiona Trostle, Angelica Sophia Mejia, and Martin Earl Mejia Jr., great-grandchildren- Ella Garcia, Elijah Garcia and Elias Garcia.
