Kevin Jay Ortiz

Kevin Jay Ortiz, 64 of Bovina passed away tragically in an auto accident on July 5, 2024 in Shallowater. Viewing will be held from 5:00PM to 8:00 PM on Sunday, July 28, 2024 in the Ron Smiley Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with Mass of Christian Burial Services set for 11:00AM Monday July 29, 2024 at St. Teresa's Catholic Church of Friona with Father Gregory Bunyan as Celebrant. Burial following in the Friona Cemetery by HANSARD FAMILY Funeral Home of Friona.

Kevin was born February 28, 1960 in Albuquerque. N.M. to Imelda Ortiz. He graduated from Robertson High School in Las Vegas, NM and was employed by Friona Industry and Oppliger Feeders as a mill operator and manager for many years. He was an extremely hard worker and loved to work. He liked going to the lake and fishing, watching wrestling on TV and playing with his grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his wife- Connie Ortiz, brother-Daniel Esparza, grandparents- Jose and May Ortiz, uncles-Ben and Carlos Ortiz, aunts-Celina Lujan and Daisy Huseman.

Those to mourn his passing include his mother-Imelda Ortiz of Bernalillo, N.M., 1 son-Kevin Phillip Ortiz of Friona, and 1 daughter- Loretta Flores Villalobos and husband Chris of Amarillo, 3 sisters-Kathy Ortiz and Patricia Trujillo and husband Bobby, all of Bernalillo, N.M., and Krystal Alarcon and husband Ray of Las Vegas, N.M. 5 grandchildren, 1 great-grandchild and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

John Angel Everett

Church service for John Angel Everett, age 88, of Earth, Texas, is scheduled for 10:00 AM, Saturday, July 27, 2024 at Ellis Funeral Home Chapel in Muleshoe, Texas with Deacon Teodoro Chavez officiating. Rosary will be said at 6:00 PM, Friday, July 26, 2024 at Ellis Funeral Home. John died Tuesday, July 23, 2024 in Lubbock, Texas. He was born June 15, 1936 in Robstown, Texas to Joe Angel and Dominga (Olivarez) Everett. He married Lucy Brito in Bovina, Texas on September 19, 1957.

John loved being a farmer. He was also a musician, and played the accordion and guitar. He enjoyed watching novelas, and playing checkers and dominos. John loved spending time with his brothers. He is preceded in death by his wife, Lucy; a son, John Jacob Everett; his parents; four sisters; and three brothers.

John is survived by his son, Jamie Everett and his wife, Wilma of Earth, Texas; his four daughters, Cathie Everett of Earth, Texas, Carrie Melton and her husband, James of Rosewll, New Mexico, Clarice Dominguez and her husband, Jose of Amarillo, Texas and Cynthia Silva and her husband, Pastor Aurelio of Friona, Texas; two brothers, Raymond Everett of Floydada, Texas and David Everett of Farwell, Texas; nineteen grandchildren; and thirty-five great-grandchildren.
