Ever since the water tower was emptied to make necessary repairs, city workers have been busy repairing busted water lines all over town. Without the reliable gravity flow that the water tower provides, it has been difficult to maintain equal water pressure throughout the city. Repairs to the tower should be completed by the end of the month. City Manager Lee Davila asks residents to only water their yards in the evening or at night until the water tower is back online.
On Tuesday, Yvonne Legarreta signed a Letter of Intent to run Cross Country and Track at West Texas A&M University next year. Friends, family, and fellow students joined in the celebration.

A new feature section at the Friona Public Library was unveiled at the annual Friends of the Library meeting. Thanks to generous memorials from friends, family, and the community, an Audio Book Section was opened in memory of Lunell Horton. She was an avid reader and especially liked the audio book format. Members of her family were on hand for the dedication.
Prairie Acres News - Johnnie Ray is the Prairie Acres Resident of the Month for May. Employee of the Month is Diana Cruz. She works in the Nursing Department and joined the staff in July of 1992.

Legacy Pointe News - A special Mother's Day/Memorial Day event will be held at Legacy Pointe on Thursday, May 16th starting at 6:30 p.m. to honor those men and women who have raised families and those who have served our country.

Can you dance Colonel Sanders? - National Dance Like a Chicken Day is Tuesday and is meant to encourage people to dance like a chicken. This includes flapping your arms and strutting chicken-like. Everyone has probably danced the "Chicken Dance" at least once in their lifetime. Heard through the chicken wire that the two most popular dances are the Kentucky Fried Two-Step and the Chick-fil-A-Rhumba.

Save The Date - The date for the annual cleanup workday at the Friona cemetery is Thursday, May 23rd at 5:00 p.m. If you have flowers or other decorations that you want to keep, please get them before May 23rd. Faded and old flowers and other decorations will be thrown away during the cleanup. The workday is open to the public and the Friona Cemetery Association would appreciate your help. The chapel will be open and drinks and cookies will be served. Feel free to drop by and visit even if you cannot help clean!

Coming Attractions - Several events are taking place next week leading up to the end of school. On Monday, check out the Primary Awards Assemblies. Kindergarten will be at 8:10 a.m. in the Elementary Gym and 1st grade will be at 2:00 p.m. in the Jr. High Cafeteria. Tuesday is the Spring Band Concert and Senior Recognition. It will take place at 6:00 p.m. on the lawn west of the Ag Building. The FHS Choir will perform on Thursday at 7:00 p.m. in the FHS Auditorium. Next Friday (17th) the FHS Senior Parade will take place at 7:00 p.m. on Main Street.
