Display Case Needed - The City of Friona is currently working on a project to honor the late Clarence Monroe, former mayor of the City of Friona. As part of this tribute, the City is aiming to create a dedicated display to showcase memorabilia and highlight his contributions to our community. To achieve this, the City is seeking a display case where they can prominently exhibit these items in a safe and respectful manner. Call the Chamber of Commerce at 806-250-3491 for more information.

FHS Graduation is May 24th

It has been a busy month for FHS seniors. Church-sponsored banquets, parades, college signings, field days, and even some school. Last Friday evening, the soon-to-be graduates had the opportunity to ride down Main Street in the transportation of their choice in the Graduate Car Parade. Each senior was introduced and received their honors and college scholarships.

On Monday morning, the seniors made a "walk-thru" visit to the Primary, Elementary, and Junior High Schools. They were greeted by enthusiastic Pre-K, Kindergarten, and 1st Graders chanting "Friona Chieftains" at the top of their lungs. They finished at the Junior High where 8th Graders are preparing to make the leap to high school.

On Friday evening, those 70 seniors will walk across the stage to receive their high school diplomas and begin their next great adventure. Friona High School will hold its 2024 Graduation Ceremony at 8:00 p.m. on Friday, May 24th at Chieftain Field. The ceremony is open to the public and everyone is invited to attend. In case of severe weather, the ceremony will take place in the FHS Events Center.

After the ceremony, friends and families are invited onto Chieftain Field to take photos with their special graduate(s).

An Alcohol/Drug Free Graduation Celebration Party will be held for the new graduates later in the evening. Proceeds from the Senior Steak Dinner held earlier in the year are used to fund the event along with donations from area businesses. There will be lots of great prizes available for all the graduates. Congratulations Class of 2024!

This special graduation edition of the Friona Star contains photos of all the graduates as well as ads from local businesses who would like to congratulate the Class of 2024 and wish all success in their future endeavors.
