Marion Francis Fite of Amarillo, TX, was welcomed to his new home in Heaven on Monday, April 22, 2024.
He was 99 years old.
Marion was born in Holdenville, Oklahoma on February 16, 1925 to Marion Sr. and Birdie Fite. They later moved to Anton, TX.
Marion met his future wife, Gloria Ruth Schiller (Ruthie), in middle school at Anton. After high school, they started dating, and Marion soon joined the Navy to support the war effort. He was stationed on the USS Bergen in the South Pacific during WWII, and was a Motor Machinist Mate 3rd Class. He was responsible for maintaining the landing crafts that delivered soldiers to the shores of Okinawa, Japan.
When he returned home from WWII, Ruthie & Marion were married on June 7, 1946, in Lubbock, TX. Marion started farming near Anton, TX, and Terry, their first son, was born in Littlefield, TX in 1948. They later moved to Hereford, TX where their second son, Bruce was born in 1953. Shortly after Bruce was born, they moved to Friona, TX where Marion farmed and owned a fertilizer business for many years. Marion was very passionate about farming, and especially loved seeing the crops being harvested. Ruthie owned and operated a floral shop and a ladies ready to wear store for many years. They resided in Friona until they retired in 1978, and moved to Lubbock, TX in 1983.
Marion and Ruthie enjoyed traveling for 22 years, and made many lifelong friends. Marion loved his family (children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great, great, grandchildren), and he was adored by them all. Marion and Ruthie were faithful members of St. Luke's United Methodist Church until they moved to Amarillo, TX in 2017. Ruthie went to her new home in heaven on February 2nd 2021, and they were 4 months short of their 75th wedding anniversary.
Marion was preceded in death by his parents, 6 sisters, 3 brothers, and wife Ruthie. He is survived by his two sons; Terry Duane Fite, of Lubbock, TX, Bruce Allen Fite and wife, Deborah, of Amarillo, TX; five grandchildren (Shawn, Jeremy, Josh, Christy, Dustin); ten great grandchildren (Ashley, Zane, Zoey, Asher, Skyler, Sawyer, Gunnar, Ticia, Tayla, Tasha), and one great, great granddaughter (Serenity).
A Celebration of Life service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 25th, 2024, in the Chapel of Resthaven Funeral Home in Lubbock, TX, located at 5740 W. 19th Street.

Lonnie Paul Woodruff, 74 of Friona passed away Saturday April 20, 2024 in Friona, Viewing will be held from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM Thursday, April 25, 2024 in the Ron Smiley Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with Celebration of Life Services beginning at 2:00 PM with Jeff Procter officiating. Burial following in the Friona Cemetery by HANSARD FAMILY Funeral Home of Friona.
Lonnie was born May 29, 1949 in Sulphur Springs, Texas to Earnest Paul Woodruff and Dorothy Faye Reid. He graduated high school in 1968 and in 1976 married Dee Tipton of Texico, NM. They had 4 children- Jeremie, Tommy, Keisha, and Clayton and lived in Hereford where he worked for Deaf Smith Electric Co-Op. He later moved to Lubbock where he worked farming in Broadview, Grady, and Wolforth and drove a truck for Coca Cola. He worked for many hears driving a cattle truck and working for several farmers in Friona and Plainview.
He is survived by son-Jeremie and wife Julia and their children Jonathan, Jessie, Jeremiah Joel and Jefferson of Elida, NM, son- Tommy and wife Rebecca and children Lana and Lynn of Belan, NM, daughter-Keisha Bock and husband Joshua and children Taylor Peck and husband Grayson and their daughter Emery, and daughter Savanna and Jonah of Los Lumas, NM, son-Clayton and wife Sandra and children Tyler and financé Katheryene and children Amory of Joab of Belen, NM., sister-Brenda Jackson and husband Fred of Wichita Falls, sister-Sherry Corder and husband Henry of Clovis, brother-Gary Woodruff and wife Robin of Marietta, OK., sister-Dorothy Wilson of Davis, OK., brother-Leonard Woodruff of Wichita Falls, sister-Nelda Griffin, brother-Wendell Woodruff, both of Wynnewood, OK., and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was blessed by a large family and will be dearly missed.

Elida Flores, 80, of Canyon, passed away on Tuesday, April 16, 2024. Memorial services were held at 10:00 A.M. on Monday, April 22, 2024 at the First Baptist Church of Canyon with Pastor Sam Medina officiating.
Elida was born on February 25, 1944 in Edcouch, Texas, one of 21 children born to Santos and Josefa (Vera) Garcia. Married on February 25, 1961 in Farwell, Texas, she and her husband, Joe Flores, recently celebrated their 63rd wedding anniversary. Together, they lived in Friona for 22 years where Elida was active at Templo Bautista, teaching Sunday school and serving in the children's and youth ministries. In 1982, they moved to Panhandle and then to Canyon in 2019. In both communities, she continued to faithfully serve in the church including helping to found and lead Primera Iglesia Bautista, a ministry of the First Baptist Church of Panhandle.
Elida was known for her faithfulness, hard work, and determination. She was devoted to caring for her family as a homemaker for years as well as becoming a self-taught seamstress and an incredible cook. Her lack of opportunity for a formal education led her to deeply value and encourage higher education for her daughters, who both received degrees in education. Firmly rooted in her faith in Christ, she left a legacy of wisdom, strength, grace, and humility that will continue to guide her family for generations to come.
Elida is preceded in death by her parents and eight siblings, Santos Garcia, Jr., Lupe Ramirez, Francisca Rodriguez, Eva Garcia, Maria Hernandez, Roman Garcia, Erasmo Garcia, and Delicia Cruz.
Survivors include her husband Joe, daughters, Velma Rojas and husband Carlos of Canyon, TX, and Jo Ann Rivera and husband Gabriel of Coppell, TX; five grandchildren, Lucinda Ross and husband Rich of Edmond, OK, Selena Veal and husband Chris of Canyon, TX, Carlos Joel Rojas and wife, Tabitha of Tulsa, OK, Michelle Rivera and Celeste Rivera, both of Coppell, TX; five great-grandchildren, Eloise, Everett, and Charlie Veal, and Reynolds and Rhodes Ross; and six siblings, Arturo Garcia of Lubbock, TX, Joe Garcia of Edinburg, TX, Ayda Lujan of Panhandle, TX, Juana Hernandez of Johnson City, TX, Robert Garcia of Edinburg, TX, and Rogelio Garcia of Idaho.
