Let The Chips Fall - Federal officials have awarded Samsung $6.4 billion to increase semiconductor chip production in Texas. The grants seek to lessen America's dependence on chips made in Taiwan and China. Within the agreement, the South Korean giant will be able to build new chip production facilities throughout Texas and improve existing locations, such as the $17 billion plant in Taylor. Samsung is forecasting an investment of $40 billion in the region, along with over 20,000 jobs. Source: The Texas Flyover

Tech News - The idea of 3D printing is still rather new in the tech world, but there's a new method gaining traction as well - 4D printing. This method builds on what you already know about printing 3D objects with the added benefit of response. Any 4D printed object is meant to respond to the world around them, whether that means it is exposed to heat, air, or water. The process involves programming that allows it to make these changes, based on its surrounding stimuli. Some companies aim to use it for furniture that can assemble itself or pipes that can mend their own leak, while others want to use it to help print organs and medical devices. In Australia, they have already created a 4D water valve that closes when the water turns hot, and opens when the water is cool. This was made possible by using hydrogel which reacts rapidly to changing temperatures. Source: Transcription Plus, LLC

Over 1500 steaks were cooked at the Senior Steak Dinner last Sunday. In fact, volunteer cooks could not keep up with brisk ticket sales and there was a wait time to receive the meal. However, the steaks were great and the money raised will help fund the Drug-Free All Night Graduation Party which will include games and prizes for the new graduates. The party will take place after the graduation program in May. Thanks to all who supported the event and the Class of 2024!
