Dale Widner

Dale Widner, 88 of Friona passed away October 4, 2024 in Longview, Texas. Celebration of Life Graveside Services have been scheduled for 10:00AM MT Friday October 11, 2024 in the Melrose Cemetery in Melrose, New Mexico with Rev. David McGaughy, officiating, Burial following in the Melrose Cemetery by HANSARD FAMILY Funeral Home of Friona.

Dale was born February 11, 1936, in Clovis, New Mexico to Cleo and Wyndol True Widner. He later married Louise Frazier February of 1957. He was a longtime area farmer and rancher, an avid coin collector and enjoyed welding gifts for friends and family. He loved to travel and especially spending time with his great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents- Cleo and Wyndol Widner, wife- Louise Widner, daughter-Alicia Dale Widner, brother-Jerry Widner, and sister-Bonnie McMath.

Those that celebrate Dale’s life include his daughter- Lana Jaton Magness and husband Glenn of Longview, 1 sister-Joyce Wallace of Lubbock, grandson-Jake Magness and wife Hannah of Fumba Zanzibar, Tanzania. granddaughter-Courtney De La Rosa and husband Ben of Chandler, Texas, great-grandchildren-Evelyn and Zia Magness, and Benjamin Anika, and Ezra De La Rosa.

Priscilla Hicks

A church service for Priscilla Hicks, age 82, of Lubbock, Texas, was held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 8, 2024 at First Baptist Church in Friona, Texas with Brett Hoyle of Friona officiating. Burial was in Muleshoe Memorial Park in Muleshoe, Texas. Priscilla died Wednesday, October 2, 2024 in Lubbock. She was born June 13, 1942 in Tahoka, Texas to John and Vera (James) Inman. She married Gary Hicks in Muleshoe on August 20, 1960.

Priscilla became a nurse after the death of her husband. She was very proud of the profession that she pursued after the age of 40. She never met a stranger and was always singing and humming. Priscilla loved to serve others with a song in her heart. She loved to talk and laugh. Her faith was huge, but after God, her family came first. Priscilla was Nana to all of her grands and great-grands. She was an avid Texas Tech football fan, as well as the Kansas City Chiefs. Priscilla was a Facebook fanatic too. She is preceded in death by her husband, Gary; her parents; and a sister, Pat Halsell.

Priscilla is survived by her son, Scott Hicks and his wife, Tiffany of Lubbock, Texas; her two daughters, RayAnn Benedict and her husband, Ross of Alberta, Canada and Chantelle Julian and her husband, Scott of Chocktaw, Oklahoma; a sister, Ira Lea Puckett and her husband, Eddie of Sweetwater, Texas; her six grandchildren, Heather Seutter and her husband, Philip, Stephanie Fakner and her husband, Micha, John Ross Benedict and his wife, Joelle, Katlyn Hicks, Gentry Hicks, and Avery Hicks and her nine great-grandchildren.

Jackie “Omom” (Fisk) Hefner

Jackie “Omom” (Fisk) Hefner, 85, of Friona, Texas passed away on October 5, 2024, in Friona, surrounded by her loving family. A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held on Friday, October 11, 2024, at 11:00 A.M. at the First Baptist Church of Friona with Pastor Brett Hoyle officiating.

Jackie was born on December 29, 1938, in Dallas, Texas to Buck and Jacqueline (Douglas) Fisk and graduated from Sunset High School in Dallas. She married Thomas Hefner on August 23, 1958, in Dallas; they celebrated 66 years of marriage this August. Jackie has been a resident of Friona for twenty-plus years.

Jackie traveled to many places and countries with Tom throughout the years for his job, while caring for their six children. Jackie never complained and showed great strength and courage in all their adventures. Jackie loved cooking for her family and others, sewing, and the company of dogs. She was a voracious reader and always had a book clip on the table so she could read and eat simultaneously. Jackie and Tom enjoyed spending time together and talking. She was a good wife, loving mother, Omom, and great friend.

Those left to cherish her memories are her husband Tom Hefner of Friona, Texas; children, Laura Winters and husband Frank of Gruver, Texas, Charles Hefner and wife Irimaia of the Dominican Republic, Tommy Hefner of Friona, Texas, Robert Hefner and wife Susan of Seabrook, Texas, Jean Winters and husband Guy of Texline, Texas, and Susi Maldonado and husband Efrain of Dalhart, Texas; 16 Grandchildren, and 19 Great Grandchildren plus two more blessings on the way.

She is preceded in death by her mom Jacqueline Fisk, father-in-law CW Hefner, daughter-in-law Jill Hefner, grandsons Joshua Hefner and Jake Hefner, sister Nancy Rockett, and brother Doug Fisk.
