At Cheer Camp last week on the Texas Tech campus, the FHS Cheerleader squad won Overall Game Day Champion, Most Traditional School, Overall Most Improved, Best Dressed Mascot, and 3rd Place Cheer. Also, Amy Montana was named All American Cheerleader and won the Pin it Forward Award for leadership and kindness. Congratulations! Cheer Up - Little Girls Cheer Camp is scheduled for July 25-27 from 8 a.m. till 10 a.m. for ages 4 years old to upcoming 6th graders. Same day registration begins at 7:30 a.m. at the High School Activity Center.

Read all about it - Friends of the Library Book Shop manager Connie Slagle said the book shop will be open this Saturday from 3:00-5:00 p.m. Visitors to the cheeseburger festival will have a chance to shop for books of all kinds which sell for only a dollar per bag. Proceeds benefit Friends of the Library projects. The book shop is located at 618 Euclid behind the library. It is also open every Wednesday from 3:30-5:30 p.m.

Taste Buds - Cheeseburger festival officials announced this week that Adolfo Garcia, Paige Goodell, Alex Guerro, and Anna Hernandez are the judges this year for the Cheeseburger Cookoff. They will determine the Cheeseburger Champions for 2023!

Can You Dig It - The annual Texas A&M Potato Breeding Program Field Day, hosted by Texas A&M AgriLife Research and Bruce Barrett Farms, will be Tuesday, July 18th.

Area 1 officers get ready for the opening session of the 95th Texas FFA State Convention in Dallas. Friona FFA Chapter President Dieter Ally will serve as Area 1 Treasurer for the 2023-2024 school year. The convention runs July 10th through 14th.
The Grime Scene Car Wash is now open for business. The former Soapy Springs property was repaired and a new drive-thru car wash system was installed.
