Touch a Truck - Students heard a lot of trash talk last Wednesday when the City of Friona's trash collection provider, Republic Services, made a visit to Friona Primary School for a "Touch a Truck" event. Company representatives informed the kids that truck drivers haul off 100,000 pounds of trash during their four visits each week. Since safety is always a top priority, some students got to try out the special equipment including a hat, gloves, glasses, and a vest. Reps also displayed the power of the trucks by crushing a few sofas.
Thank You - The FHS Senior Class of 2023 would like to thank everyone who purchased tickets for the Senior Steak Dinner last Sunday. Approximately 1500 steaks were cooked and the curbside waiting line stretched back to Highway 60. Proceeds will be used for the Graduation Party.

FYI - April is the fourth month of the year and consists of 30 days on the Gregorian calendar and its predecessor, the Julian calendar. Its name is derived from the Latin word aperit, which means "to open." In the Northern Hemisphere, April is a part of the growing season. April wasn't always the fourth month. Originally, the Roman calendar placed the month second. It became the fourth month consisting of only 29 days when January was designated the first month of the year around 450 BCE. April became 30 days again when Julius Caesar reformed the calendar.
