Free Park Admission on November 5th - Texas State Parks Day is November 5th and, as part of continued centennial celebrations, visitors will get free day-use entrance at all Texas state parks. Texas has more than 80 parks throughout the state to offer a wide variety of outdoor day-use activities. Also, Texas State Parks is promoting the new Parkland Passports for Veterans. Dinner Reminder - St. Ann's Catholic Church of Bovina is having their annual Thanksgiving Dinner on Sunday, November 5, 2023 from 11:30 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. (Texas time) in the St. Ann's Parish Hall located at 409 3rd Street in Bovina, Texas. They will be serving a delicious buffet of Turkey & Dressing with all the trimmings. Donations are $15 for adults and $6 for children under six years of age. Take-out plates will be available at no additional charge. A quilt made by St. Ann's Society will be raffled off at the dinner.

Good News at the Pump - Average gasoline prices in Texas fell 6.8 cents last week, averaging $2.94 per gallon, according to GasBuddy's survey of 13,114 stations in Texas. The cheapest station in Texas was priced at $2.47 per gallon. "Average gasoline prices have fallen for a sixth straight week in nearly every state, with the national average now at its lowest level since March," said Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy.

Takin' Care of Business - Mariza Licerio held the scissors at last week's Ribbon Cutting Ceremony and Open House at Happy Tribe Academy, Friona's new daycare facility located at 704 Ashland. Mariza is the owner/operator and was joined by family, friends, staff members, city officials, and chamber of commerce officials for the special event. Approximately 35 children, ranging in age from 6 weeks to 3 years old, are enrolled with another 20+ on the waiting list.
