FRIONA WEATHER

FHS Class of 1992

The FHS Class of 1992 met Maize Days weekend in Friona for their 30th Class Reunion. There were 27 present. They enjoyed dining at The Farmwife Kitchen on Friday night. Members of the FHS Class of '92 have 159 cumulative years of military service. They would like to challenge all other FHS classes to check and see if they can surpass that milestone.

Linda (Clark) Morina gave a speech highlighting the historical marker located at the Elementary School in recognition of Friona being the first school in the State of Texas to integrate students in 1954. Classmates Linda (Clark) Morina and Tamara Hand are descendants of those involved in the story.

In Memory — A Blood Drive at FHS last week in memory of Yahir Cancino was a huge success. Blood donations, mainly from students, surpassed the greater good goal which generated a $360 donation to the charity Donate Life Texas. Yahir was a sophomore at Dalhart High School. He passed away after suffering a serious injury during a JV football game in early September. The drive was so successful that additional donors had to be turned away because the blood drive staff ran out of supplies.

Just 4 Laughs — (1) Helvetica and Times New Roman walk into a bar. "Get out of here!" shouts the bartender. "We don't serve your type." (2) Did you hear about the claustrophobic astronaut? He just needed a little space. (3) Why should the number 288 never be mentioned? It's two gross. (4) What do you call a parade of rabbits hopping backwards? A receding hare-line.
