Cleburne Lee Stokes

Cleburne Lee Stokes 92, of Friona passed away February 26, 2026 in Friona.

Celebration of Life Services were scheduled for 10:30 AM, Monday March 2, 2026 in the Ron Smiley Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with Pastor Guy Walker, officiating. Burial following in the Friona Cemetery entrusted to HANSARD FAMILY Funeral Home of Friona.

Cleburne was born January 11, 1934 in Keo, Pulaski County, Arkansas to Carl Frances and Lou Ella Brock Stokes. He later married Shirley Ann Asher December 13, 1962. Cleburne was a farmer by trade, but most importantly, by God. He literally was awarded for the straightest rows in Texas. His love for the farm was evident, as he loved to say, “Out here on the farm, I feel closest to God.” His love for outdoors and wilderness also extended to hunting, fishing. and tending to his roses. Cleburne was a man of few words, but when he talked, he got his point across. He was selfless, caring, loving and a great role model for others.

He is preceded in death by his parents- Carl and Lou Ella Brock Stokes, siblings- Harris, Glen, Jerry, Evelyn, Ruby, and Marilyn.

Those to cherish his memory include his wife Shirley of Friona, 1 son-Cleburne Boyd Stokes and wife Julie and 1 daughter-Gay Bridges and husband Jerry, all of Friona, 2 sisters-Marie Bradley of Elkins, Arkansas, and Irene Ingiald and husband Larry of Crystal Springs, Arkansas, 8 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.

Linda Henry

Linda Henry passed away peacefully on Monday February 23,2026 in Amarillo Texas.

Memorial Services will be held at a later date. Arrangements by HANSARD FAMILY Funeral Home of Friona.

Linda was born September 9th 1949 on an Air Force base near Riverside California to Elmer Henson and Flony Opal (Denson) Spence.

Linda had many highlights in her life from her children to her grandchildren but the most important one was being married to her late loving husband Avis Henry. The two were married on September 5,1969 in Hereford Texas and had more than 55 loving years together before his passing on August 10, 2025.

Linda had a varied professional experience from being a volunteer in the Friona EMS on her way to becoming a paramedic in Borger Texas. She worked in HR for Cargill Meat Solutions in Friona Texas and she also did custom upholster in Friona among other things. Linda’s hobbies are reading books, fishing, camping with family, visiting zoos and spending time with her grandchildren.

Linda is preceded in death by her parents Elmer Henson and Flony Opal (Denson) Spence. A brother Jack Wilson Spence.

Left to cherish Linda’s memory is four children Tabatha Thornton of Gallup New Mexico, Shannon Green of Friona,Texas, Dawn Henry of Friona Texas, Chad (Sarah) Henry of St Louis Missouri. She was a loving “Memaw” of eleven grandchildren Justin Henry, Christopher Johnston, Timothy Johnston, Jordan Ross, Katelynn (Daniel) Pierpoint, Hannah (Dustin) Snyder, Gabriella Thornton, Allanah (Jamie) Murillo, Sean Henry, Madelyn Henry, and Camille Henry, two brothers Earnie(Rosie) Spence and Bruce(Mary) Spence along with nieces, nephews and other friends and family.

Jimmy, “J.D.” Stowers

Jimmy, “J.D.” Stowers, 73, of Hereford, Texas passed away on Sunday, March 1, 2026, surrounded by his loving family.

A Memorial Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, March 7, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Mendez and Mullins Family Funeral Home with Kirk Sparkman officiating. Burial of Cremains will follow at West Park Cemetery under the direction of Mendez and Mullins Family Funeral Home.

Jimmy “J.D.” was born to Jesse and Erma (Rury) Stowers on June 21, 1952, in Friona Texas. On March 13, 1970, he married Janet (Melton) in Friona, Texas. J.D. has resided in Hereford for four decades, during which time he has been actively involved in various aspects of the trucking industry.

J.D. was raised on a farm and, soon after turning 18, bought his first truck, sparking a lifelong passion for trucking. He also worked for Reiter Trucking as a dispatcher. J.D. was an animal lover. He cherished time with his family, shooting and collecting guns, and loved cooking outdoors preparing a good steak. J.D. was particular about keeping his vehicles spotless and took great pride in having a nice yard. In his younger years, he enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson.

Those left to cherish his memories are his wife Janet Stowers of Hereford, Texas; daughters Tammy Valdez and husband Jesse and Jennifer Brumley both of Hereford, Texas; four grandchildren, Spur Valdez and his wife Kayla of LiveOak Florida, Jesse Fry and her husband Garrett of Moriarty New Mexico, Cale Brumley and his wife Elizabeth of Hereford, Texas, and JaDee Brumley of Hereford, Texas; three great grandchildren, Addison Brumley, Blaize Fry, and Sterlyn Valdez; and his loyal companion Pomeranian, Bella; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Jesse and Erma Stowers, two brothers Roy Lee and Bobby Stowers, sister Nina Jean “Sissy” Shanabarger, and son-in-law Caleb Brumley.
