Norberto Casillas Gonzalez, 76 of Friona passed away July 8, 2025 in Friona. Viewing was held from 9:00 AM to 8:00 PM Thursday, July 10, 2025 in the Ron Smiley Memorial Chapel of the funeral home. Celebration of Life Services were held at 10:30 AM Friday July 11, 2025 in the Ron Smiley Memorial Chapel. Pastor Larry Mitchell, officiated. Burial followed in the Friona Cemetery entrusted to HANSARD FAMILY Funeral Home of Friona.
Norberto was born March 3, 1949 in Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico to Severo and Maria Isabell Casillas Gonzalez. He later married Nora M. Raymond in September of 1978. Norberto had worked for the original owners of what is now Cargill Meat solutions, and was the area’s handyman with carpentry, roofing and plumbing. He was a very caring person and had a way of making everyone feel special. Norberto loved music, especially oldies, and he treasured God and his family.
He is preceded in death by his parents-Severo and Maria, 1 brother-Jose Gonzalez, and 3 sisters- Socorro Gonzalez, Maria de Jesus Garcia and Amalia Viscarra.
Those to mourn his passing include his wife Nora Gonzalez of Friona, 3 daughters-Ana Gonzalez of Portland, Oregon, Eve Sherre Lopez and Crystal Gonzalez, both of Friona, 2 sons-Adam Raymond of Amarillo, and Norberto S. Gonzalez of Friona, 3 sisters-Paula Valdevia of Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico, Rosa Huerta of Santa Clara, California, and Agapita Flores of Los Angeles, California, 8 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren on the way.

Genoveve “Geneva” Saiz Braillif, 90 of Friona passed away July 12, 2025 in Friona. Mass of Christian Burial Services were held at 10 AM Wednesday, July 16, 2025 at St. Teresa’s Catholic Church of Friona with Father Nicholas Gerber as Celebrant. Burial followed in the Friona Cemetery entrusted to HANSARD FAMILY Funeral Home of Friona.
Geneva was born June 16, 1935 Villanueva, New Mexico to Rosendo and Guadalupe Valdez Pacheco Saiz. She later married Willie Braillif, Sr. on August 31,1956. One of her greatest callings from God was to feed thousands of people over the years as she owned the T Box, Headquarters and Holiday Inn restaurants with daily dedication no matter the weather or conditions. She also loved spending time with her family, especially on trips to Marble Falls or to the Loretto Chapel in Santa Fe. She enjoyed sewing, quilting and dancing.
Geneva is preceded in death by her parents Rosendo and Guadalupe Saiz, husband-Willie Braillif, Sr, son-Willie Braillif Jr., a daughter Estelita Braillif, brother and sister in law-Joe and Francis Saiz, brother- Amadeo “Jose” Pacheco, sisters-in-law and brother-in-law- Dominga S. and Felipe Mendoza, Manuela and Augustin Garcia, and Maria Juana Saiz, and Eloy Holguin.
Those left to mourn her passing include sons-Eddie Braillif and wife Georgia of Marble Falls, and Raul Braillif of Friona, daughters- Gloria Reyes Gonzales and husband Joe, and Cindy Maldonado all of Amarillo, Lupe Taylor and husband Burl of Friona, Michelle Reyes and husband Tony of Granite Shoals, Texas, Diana Mendoza Romo and husband Manuel of Snyder, sister-Ruby Holguin of Hereford, brother-Manuel Pacheco and wife Rosie of Houston, 17 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren, and 17 great-great-grandchildren.
