Jo Anne Jennings Hill Danner

Jo Anne Jennings Hill Danner, 75, of Amarillo, TX, embarked on her heavenly journey on May 14, 2025, wrapped in the loving wings of an angel.

A celebration of her life commenced with a visitation on Tuesday, May 20, 2025, from 5-6:30 PM, at Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home, 2800 Paramount Blvd. The funeral services were held on Wednesday, May 21, 2025 at 2:00 PM, at Hillside Christian Church, 6100 Soncy Rd. Interment will follow in Memory Gardens Cemetery where we will honor her remarkable life. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.

Jo Anne Jennings was born in Hereford, TX on November 19, 1949 to Elvie and Virginia Jennings. As the third of four children, her upbringing was a beautiful blend of love, laughter, and healthy competition, which shaped her strong will and confident character. As a bright and adventurous soul, she always strove to prove herself, participating in small-town pageants, playing basketball, and twirling, which showcased her vibrant spirit.

She graduated from Friona High School in 1968 and moved to Dallas, TX, where she continued her education and graduated in 1969 from Dallas Fashion Merchandising College. Here, she studied fashion merchandising and spent a year abroad in Paris, France, which she had many cherished memories of. Her talents later led her into very influential careers and opportunities where she would meet many lifelong friends and clients, many of whom she still held very close to her heart. In October 1975, Jo gave birth to her one and only son, Christopher Hill, and the bond between them was priceless. Being his mother was her life. There wasn’t anything she wouldn’t do for him, and he for her. She was always a mother first.

On April 19, 1997, Jo married Jerry Don (JD) Danner. Together, they raised three sons and a daughter and created a wonderful life together, traveling the world, taking small road trips, soaking in the evenings on the porch, chasing grandkids from game to game, or around the house; their life was beautiful and full of laughter and love. Jo, nevertheless, understood the words ‘slow down,’ and she continued on in a new direction when she became a realtor and notary for Alliance Properties until retiring in 2020. Even then, she continued to sell real estate on and off, but her main passion was Patsy’s Place. Jo Anne was completely devoted to the work and the women of Patsy’s Place; she believed wholeheartedly in its program and threw every waking moment of her time into it. She loved the women and the volunteers here and the joy they brought to her. Jo’s faith was strong; she was at peace and believed in our Father. She knew that there was something amazing waiting for her, and she was so excited to see what that something was. She explained it in her favorite way: ‘Much like dinner, you are told to keep your fork because the best is yet to come when they are about to serve dessert; so keep your fork. Jo has her fork, and now she has her dessert, and soon we will see her again waiting at the dinner table to bring in our forks.

Jo is preceded in death by her parents, her sister Dianne “Gay” Tannahill.

She is survived by her husband, JD Danner of the home; son, Christopher Hill and wife Lyndetta Hill of Amarillo, TX; stepsons, Chad Danner and wife Cindy of Amarillo, TX and Shane Danner and wife Megan of Round Rock, TX; step-daughter, Jennifer Wolf and husband Jeff of Friendswood, TX; grandchildren, Corbin Hill of Levelland, TX, Shayla and Mason Hill of Flower Mound, TX, Emma and Bella Archer of Lubbock, TX, Ashtin and Parker Danner of Round Rock, TX, Baily and Hayden West of Friendswood, TX, Stevie and Cameron Mouw of San Angelo, TX, and Stacie Woods Lubbock, TX; a great-great-granddaughter, Lily Mae; sister, Annette “Teto” Milner and husband Dale of Friona, TX; brother, Rick Jennings of Lubbock, TX; and many nieces, nephews, friends, and loved ones that will forever be considered family.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to International Fellowship of Christians and Jews (IFCJ) or to Sharing Hope Ministries. 2300 SW 7th Ave Amarillo, Tx 79106, 806 -358-7803
