Toribio Monarrez, 86 of Friona passed away, January 21, 2025. Viewing was held 9:00AM to 8:00PM with Rosary Services set for 6:00PM Friday, January 24, 2025 in the Ron Smiley Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with Mass of Christian Burial Services set for 12:00PM Saturday, January 25, 2025 at St. Teresa’s Catholic Church in Friona with Monsignor Michael Colwell as Celebrant. Burial following in the Friona Cemetery by HANSARD FAMILY Funeral Home of Friona.
Toribio was born March 23, 1938 in Guanacevi, Durango, Mexico to Manuel and Katalina Monarrez. He was a great husband and father, and an area farmer that worked very hard to provide for his family. He loved to fix things and was talented in plumbing, being a mechanic or electrician. On his down time, he loved to watch wrestling.
He is preceded in death by his parents-Manuel and Katalina Monarrez.
Those that mourn his passing include his wife- Maria Monarrez of Friona, 2 sons-Orlando Monarrez of Amarillo and Alberto Monarrez of Austin, 3 daughters- Teresa Dela Torre and husband AlFonso of Dumas, Mari Carmen Garcia and husband Alberto of Amarillo, and Margarita Garcia and husband Isael of Dumas, 2 sisters-Elijia Sanchez and Martina Anguiano, 1 brother-Cesario Monarrez, 23 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild.
