Josefina Viernes Hernandez, 59 of Bovina passed away November 26, 2024 at her residence in Bovina. Viewing was held from 9:00AM to 8:00PM with Rosary Services at 6:00 PM Wednesday, December 4,2024 in the Ron Smiley Memorial Chapel of the funeral home. Mass of Christian Burial Services will be held 3:00PM Thursday, December 5, 2024 at St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Bovina with Deacon Teodoro Chavez as Celebrant. Burial following in the Bovina Cemetery by HANSARD FAMILY Funeral Home of Friona.
Josefina was born December 28, 1964 in Zacatecas, Mexico to Guadalupe Viernes Santillán and Jovita Bernabé Garcia. She was employed by Cargill Meat Solutions for 25 years. She loved to help others, spend time with family and friends, especially cooking tamales and pazole, dancing, listening to music, and loving on animals.
She is preceded in death by her parents. Guadalupe and Jovita, 2 brothers-Pedro and Zenon Viernes.
Those to mourn her passing include her life partner-Jesus Tarango of Bovina, 2 daughters-April Viernes Hernandez and Alondra Viernes Tarango, both of Amarillo, 1 son-Alexis Viernes Tarango of Bovina, 5 brothers-Tiburcio Viernes, Tito Viernes, and Bacillo Viernes, all of Bovina, Geronimo Viernes of Mexico, and Julio Viernes of Morton, 1 sister-Felipa Viernes of Mexico.
