Athlete of the Week — Class of 2021 Friona High School graduate Adrian Legarreta has been selected as the Lone Star Conference Athlete of the Week. Legarreta just recently earned All-American honors by finishing 10th in the NCAA Division II Cross Country National Championships and helping West Texas A&M claim a fourth-place finish for the second straight season. It was the Buffaloes best finish at the NCAA Championships in program history.

Christmas Band Concert — Friona Junior High bands will be present their annual Christmas Band Concert at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 17th at the Friona Junior High auditorium.

FISD Christmas Break — All FISD schools will be closed from December 23rd through January 3rd for the Christmas Break. Students will have early release on December 19th and students/staff will have early release on December 20th.

Last 2024 Issue — Next week will be the final edition of the Friona Star for 2024. The December 19th edition will contain Santa letters, Christmas photos from various events, and special ads from our sponsors. The Friona Star will be celebrating its 100th anniversary in 2025. Stay tuned.

Pastor Brett Hoyle and family will be moving soon to Burkburnett, Texas, where he will serve as pastor of First Baptist Church. He and Lindsey have served First Baptist, Friona, for 15 1/2 years and have had a big impact on our community. Brett has been the Bluebonnet Hospice chaplain, a big part of Friona Christian Ministries, coached youth baseball, and has ministered to countless families in and around Friona. His last day will be December 15th. Please come express your love and appreciation to Pastor Brett, Lindsey and family.
