Floyd L. Rector, 97 of Lewisville, Texas formerly of Friona passed away Saturday, June 3, 2023 in Lewisville. There will be no services. Cremation arrangements by HANSARD FAMILY Funeral Home of Friona.
Floyd was born August 12, 1925 at Cheney, Oklahoma in Norwest Oklahoma to Foister and Olive Griffith Rector. In 1935 his family moved to Friona where he lived until 1990 when he and his wife Eva moved to Lubbock to be near family, later moving to the Denton and Lewisville area for the same reason.
Floyd attended Friona schools and then enlisted in the U.S. Merchant Marines during WWII, and the U.S. Army shortly after the war. Floyd and Eva Lou Jones married June 16, 1948 in the United Congregational Church in Friona that now houses the Parmer County Pioneer Heritage Museum. He was a very successful farmer in the Friona area. He had grown up on the farm and always was proud of his accomplishments as a farmer. He has been a member of the Friona Methodist Church since childhood and served on the church board of stewards. He was a proud member of the IOOF and American Legion, Friona Riding Club and served as a past president.
He is preceded in death by his parents, wife Eva, 2 brothers and 2 sisters.
Those to mourn his passing include a son- Gary Rector of Lewisville, daughter-Donna Rector of Rhome, 1 granddaughter-Lauri Ragland with 2 great-granddaughters, and 1 grandson-Jonathan Rector and wife Stephanie and 2 great-grandsons.

David Castillo Bermea, 60, went on to be with his Lord Jesus, on June 2, 2023 in Amarillo, Texas. Viewing will be held from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM with Rosary Services at 6:30 PM Thursday, June 8, 2023 at St. Teresa's Catholic Church in Friona with Mass of Christian Burial Services set for 10:00 AM Friday, June 9, 2023 at St. Teresa's Catholic Church in Friona with Father Gregory Bunyan as Celebrant. David was born on August 20, 1962 to Jose and Angelita Bermea in Greeley, Colorado. He often mentioned how proud he was to have been born in Colorado, and the rest of his siblings were born in Texas.
David graduated from Friona High School in 1981. David also attended WT University in Canyon, Texas. David lived a holy single life and was the best uncle to several nieces and nephews, and many, many friends, no one was a stranger!
David loved his job at CHS as a hazmat driver for the company. He also worked for a while with Bermea Construction Inc. where he ran a front end loader professionally like nobody else! He went with Bermea Construction to New York for stadium renovations, and as they were traveling through Harlem they totally got lost in the days of no GPS, he took the drivers wheel and got them out of there easy and safely. He also worked for Baldwin Trucking Company driving cross country delivering strawberries, and Idaho potatoes. He also worked for Edmund Bermea Trucking, hauling cotton burrs. He worked for his father Jose, of Bermea Brothers Trucking hauling cotton burrs and worked at grinding alfalfa and cotton burrs.
He loved singing in the St. Teresa's Catholic Church while playing guitar, and enjoyed bible studies. He loved music and especially Boston and George Straight. He was always singing and playing music, and loved to dance. Hobbies were visiting family, traveling, watching movies and Dallas Cowboys, and Texas Longhorn college football. He enjoyed weight lifting and working out three days weekly and faithfully and was an encourager for those working out too. He loved praying the rosary and the Divine Mercy Chaplet and attended holy mass faithfully. David will be especially remembered for his great love of God, and family and a beautiful voice and fiery spirit to encourage others.
He was preceded in death by his father Jose Bermea.
Those to mourn his passing include his mother Angelita Bermea of Friona. Richard Bermea and wife, Monica, Joe Bermea Jr. and wife Belinda, Cynthia Vega and husband Uriel, Rudy Bermea and wife Sylvia, Lucinda Mosley and husband Wayne, several nieces and nephew, great nephews and great nieces, and many, many, many friends.
