John Alan Clark

There's so much to say about John Alan Clark. A typical obituary would list out his age and birthday, which was 52 and February 3, 1971. It would tell you he was born to Alan and Nita Clark in Herford, Texas, and graduated from Friona High School in 1989. Then, it would probably call out that he passed away from cancer called Multiple Myeloma on May 29, 2023, surrounded by family. It would make you read all of the family members that proceeded him in death like his paternal grandparents Bob and Bobbie Lou Clark, his maternal grandfather and grandmother Randall Fondren and Nova Smouse, his great aunt and uncle Dwayne and Jean Baize, his uncles Bob Clark and Steve Clark, his aunt Deborah Snyder, along with his sister in law Tammy.

But John wasn't a typical man, and his obituary should be the same.

John was the son of the Most High King, who he looked forward to seeing when he left this earth. He never met a stranger and would talk your ear off. He was blessed beyond measure to call Dorothy Faye Clark the love of his life for 30 years. He was the proud father of Brittney Clark, Jacob Clark, and Emily Peterson - and later adopted their spouses Nickey Clark and Alex Peterson into the fold. He cherished every rowdy second with his granddaughter Kami, who he called Kamilita-Chiquita-Chihuaua, and his grandson Kolt, who he called Booger Bear. Though husband, father, and pawpaw were his favorite names to be called on this earth, some also called him construction worker, real estate agent, firefighter, EMT, farmer, rancher, and the list goes on. But those who really knew him would have also called him "a stubborn pain in the ass."

It was only fitting that the hardest worker we knew would fight until the end and call it quits on Memorial Day as he was a proud Air Force veteran. He went out like a true dad, waiting for his son to join the rest of his family in holding him until the last second. We thank the Sweet Lord for every minute we got to spend with John, and we especially thank Brooke, Kim, Stuwart and the rest of Inhabit Hospice for truly taking care of him.

Our family held a celebration of life - "absolutely not a funeral" as John would have said - at 6 Yucca Circle, Canyon, Texas 79015 on Saturday, June 3, from 2 - 5 p.m. Please bring your favorite stories of John and warm hugs when you come.
