Chuck was born March 1,1938 in Dimmit, TX to E.L "Hap" and Julia Fairchild. She was the oldest of 2 including Larry "Butch" Fairchild. Chuck married Rex Blackburn on Sept 8, 1956, in Friona at the Friona United Methodist Church. Chuck was a housewife and a mother on the farm where all the kids were born and raised. She enjoyed going on evening drives with Rex and her kids around the farm. She served as a hospice volunteer for a period of time. Chuck loved baking cakes to take to family, friends, and Sr. Citizens. She also had a passion for gardening and grew beautiful potted plants. Her kind heart and concern for others were two of her most admirable traits. She thoroughly enjoyed keeping up with family & friends through calls and texts. One of her favorite activities later in life were her lunch outings with her special friends. She loved her Lord and was a member at the Sixth Street Church of Christ. She instilled that love of the Lord to all her children. We are forever grateful for that!
She was preceded in death by her parents, Hap and Julia, her brother Butch Fairchild, and grandson Brian Hank Blackburn.
She is survived by her four children David Blackburn and wife Laura of Amarillo, Texas, Mike Blackburn and wife Johnna of Friona, Texas, Lynn Hutson and husband Mike of Bushland, Texas, Brian Blackburn and wife Kerry of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Nine grandkids and fourteen great grandkids.
The family request memorials to be sent to Prairie Acres or Friona Sr. Citizens. The family would also like to express our deepest appreciation to all the caregivers at Parmer County Swing Bed & Prairie Acres Nursing Home.
Chuck's memory will forever be cherished by all who knew her, and her spirit will live on in the hearts of those she touched.
