The Dairy Cattle Judging Team, Land Judging Team, Meats Judging Team, and Ag Mechanics Team are heading south. These teams have been crisscrossing the state of Texas the past two months and they will showcase their skills at the highest level this week at the State Contest. Minutes from the April 11th meeting were read and approved. Commissioners approved the payment of the accounts payables as presented by County Treasurer Sharon May. The Treasurer's Payroll Report was also approved. The Treasurer's Quarterly Report was also reviewed and approved.

The county burn ban was extended for another 90 days. Parmer County is currently listed as being in an extreme drought by the Texas Water Development Board's Water Weekly Drought Map. The burn ban extension will expire on July 25, 2002.

Parmer County Sheriff Eric Geske reported that the Parmer County Law Enforcement Center was currently housing 35 inmates. Of those, 24 are paying customers from Deaf Smith County.

In other business, Wendy Case and Janelle Duffey updated Commissioners on Extension activities during the first quarter of 2020. District Attorney Jackie Claborn was added to the signature card for county bank accounts replacing form DA Kathryn Gurley.

Three items of business were tabled. Those discussions included the possibility of transferring sick hours from one employee to another, insurance/retirement benefits for Jose Martinez, and the possibility of purchasing a vehicle for the Juvenile Probation Officer. Sid Felan is retiring as JPO and is training Jose Martinez for the position.

The next Commissioners Court meeting is scheduled for May 9th.
