Julia Jan Dennis Mims was born in Hereford, TX on March 3, 1947 and passed away at her home on April 20th, 2021. Julia attended Friona Public Schools and studied chemistry at Texas Tech. She married Gary Mims in 1967. As a lifelong student of science and nature, Julia worked as a certified ASMT, medical technologists, at various hospitals for over 43 years. As a nature lover, she designed and planted over 15 different gardens and water features. She loved sewing and quilting and gifted numerous quilts throughout the years. Julia was a world traveler, an avid reader, enjoyed drawing, and working Soduku puzzles. As an animal lover, she and Gary adopted, raised and loved countless cats over the years. She is survived by husband and companion Gary; sons Logan and Colin, their wives Holly and Katrina; bonus daughter Heather Ezell; Brother Bill Dennis; grand-children Hunter, Eli, Ainslee, and Klover; nieces; Eddie, Billie, Sammie, and Nikki. A memorial service was held at Wagner Park at 2 pm on April 25th. In lieu of flowers, the family requests you consider a donation to the Salvation Army or South Plains Food bank.
Wanda Peace, 86 of Friona passed away April 24, 2021 in Friona. Viewing will be held from 9:00 A.M. until 8:00 P.M. Thursday, April 29, 2021 in the Ron Smiley Memorial Chapel of HANSARD FAMILY. Celebration of Life Graveside Services scheduled for 10:30 A.M. Friday, April 30, 2021 at the Friona Cemetery with Rev. Brett Hoyle, officiating. Wanda was born March 10, 1935 in Anadarko, Oklahoma to Chuck and Eva Cannon Atwood. She later married Bobby Gene Peace in 1950. She was a wonderful wife, mother, and grandmother who was known to be a hard working, very strong woman that loved birds and dancing.
She is preceded in death by her father, and husband.
Those that mourn her passing include her mother Eva Atwood of Lubbock, 4 sons-James Peace and wife Nancy, Roger Peace and wife Robin, all of Friona, Ray Peace of Vernon, and Weldon Peace and wife Linda of Table Rock, Missouri, 2 sisters-Dorothy Thomas of Norman, OK, Lavada Eagle of Grants, N.M., 1 brother-Lee Atwood of Slaton. 9 grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren.

Charlie Ray Burkart, 44 of Friona passed away April 24, 2021 in Friona. A family led Celebration of Life Service will be held at the family home 2455 County Road 19 Friona, 3:00 P.M. Saturday May 1, 2021. Cremation arrangements by HANSARD FAMILY Funeral Home of Friona.
Charlie was born August 26, 1976 in Hereford, Texas. He had been employed by Mixer Center of Friona. Charlie loved his family, all animals, motorcycles, rock music and helping others. He was known for his great sense of humor and being able to fix anything.
Those to mourn his passing include his mother-Teresa Burkart of Friona, 1 daughter-Makayla Day and husband Deshane of Amarillo, 1 brother- Dusty Lee Stowers of Friona and his children Isabella, and Lucas, 2 grandchildren- Havyn and Carson.
